makes you laugh out loud

It's been too many days without a Redford movie, so here's a Redford/Newman classic. The screenwriter of this movie, William Goldman, also penned The Princess Bride. In the introduction to that book (which is wonderful, by the way), he states that when he wrote the scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid where they jump off the cliff, he was picturing the Cliffs of Insanity from The Princess Bride. I'm not sure if I'm remembering the order of that right, but I know I read that the two were connected in his mind.

The picture today is inspired by the scenes in the movie where Butch and Sundance rob the loyal bank employee Woodcock on the Union Pacific train car more than once. 

you play projectionist

This movie is one that you want to rewatch again right after you see it the first time so you can see if you can make heads or tails of it all. Greatness.

he was great in it

Russell Crowe is outstanding in this movie. When John Forbes Nash first realizes certain things are not real, I was just as bewildered as he seemed to be. I think if Crowe had not just won the Oscar the year before for Gladiator, he would have won for this role and I think he should have won anyway. (Not that I saw the movie with 2001's winning performance or anything. I'm just biased like that.)
